Whether it’s economic, social or pure entertainment, every event is held for a reason; every event has objectives it aims to achieve.
It’s the power of events to deliver these benefits that attracts funding, commercial partners and public support.
But with that power comes responsibility: every event needs to show its stakeholders how it did in achieving the goals that inspired their investment.
The eventIMPACTS toolkit is here to help you do that.
How it works
The toolkit shows you how to monitor and evaluate the four main types of event impacts:
- Social
- Economic
- Environmental
- Media
It then gives you a range of options for measuring and managing them.
These impact assessment tools vary in complexity and cost. To help as many events as possible get started on evaluation, we’ve focused primarily on methods of generating quantitative data that are relatively inexpensive and easy to implement.
But we also hope event organisers will develop their impact monitoring to embrace the more sophisticated, qualitative measures the toolkit also covers.
Recommended indicators
We’ve provided specific indicators you can measure for each of the areas of impact. These indicators are selected from UK and International best practice guidance, including specific references to those listed in the OECD Impact Indicators for Culture, Sports and Business Events and ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic International Federations) Common Indicators for Measuring the Impact of Events.
You should decide which are most relevant indicators that fit the nature of your event, what it wants to achieve and how much you’re able to spend on impact evaluation.
The toolkit will help you select the best assessment models for your event, demonstrate its impact and build a reputation that will attract investment and support for future projects.
