Europe's largest Halloween festival

Created by the people of the city 37 years ago, Derry Halloween has established itself as a unique visitor experience in Northern Ireland attracting international visitors from across the world.

For three nights over Halloween, the sprits arise to join the Awakening the Walled City Trail, a magical journey through the City of Bones where you will encounter the weird and the wonderful characters who bring Halloween to life including the infamous skeleton Walter DeBurgh.

The festival retains its grassroots authenticity, with community groups, homegrown artists, and local businesses at the heart of the action, creating awe-inspiring installations and experiences, and performing in the carnival on Halloween night itself which sees up to 600 community participants.

Now more than three decades old, the festival’s most recent iteration included the LegenDerry Halloween Food Village, a nod to the thriving local food and drink scene. The frightfully good line-up also included an Awakening the Walled City Trail along the 400-year-old Walls, as well as Little Horrors family fun, and a host of other eclectic events.

It has attracted international visitors from across the world and holds accolades such as Best Halloween Destination in the World and One of the six Best Spooky Destinations in the world by New York Times.
