Event Impact

Advanced environmental impacts are those which represent behavioural change on behalf of those connected to the event. Whilst these areas are difficult to measure, they represent a real area of opportunity for event organisers in that a positive environmental impact might be achieved through hosting. Offsetting the potentially harmful environmental impacts of an event might therefore be achieved not only through technical measures to address carbon or waste, but also by creating a positive impact on people's future environmental behaviour.
High profile examples of an event organiser attempting to change spectators' behaviour include the FA’s ‘Carbon Footyprint’ campaign with e.on which aimed to persuade fans to think environmentally when making arrangements to watch the event.
